The root -centesis means puncture or aspiration of. Thoracentesis and pleurocentesis refer to the same thing: the puncture of the chest cavity, also known as the pleural cavity, for removal of fluid. So A is our answer. Culpocentesis refers to the vagina, and paracentesis refers to the abdomen.
